Employment at the LFD
The Leander Fire Department consists of both paid and volunteer personnel that together staff a fire station 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Career firefighters are hired through a competative hiring process only when positions are available.
Career firefighters are certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, and by the Texas Department of State Health Services. These certifications are the responsibility of the individual and must be obtained prior to application to the City.
