Fire Prevention Education

For many people, the first time they were up close to a fire truck or met a firefighter was during a fire prevention visit either at school or daycare. The Leander Fire Department prioritizes fire prevention education year round, and is always willing to come visit your group, or welcome you into one of our fire stations.

We maintain an excellent relationship with our community by getting to know our neighbors. We welcome invitations to schools, day cares, community meetings, and social events. We ask that you contact us a few weeks in advance, and we will schedule a visit for you. The firefighters may not be able to stay if duty calls, but while we are visiting we are happy to answer questions, show your group the fire truck, or give a tour of the station.

National Fire Prevention Week is observed beginning on the first Sunday in October and ending the following Saturday. As you can imagine, that is a busy time for us as we focus on meeting every child we can grades Kindergarten through Fifth in schools that we respond to. If you are interested in having a group of firefighters visit during Fire Prevention Week, we ask that you plan far in advance to contact us and solidify a date and time. Although Fire Prevention Week is obviously a very exciting time for us, we are excited about fire prevention education every other week of the year as well.

We can't wait to meet you and your family, and hope you will consider calling us soon. Check the Community Calendar located on the left side of this page to see if we have an event coming up near you.
